Job Description

Description of task
Within The Delegated Authority And Under The Supervision Of The U-Report Manager And Youth & Adolescent Development Specialist, Or His/her Designated Mandated Representative(s), The UNV Youth Engagement Officer Will
- Support the management and implementation of the youth digital engagement strategy with a specific focus on using U-Report Iraq as a virtual platform for young people to express themselves.
- Manage online and offline U-Report Iraq community activities.
- Support the management and coordination of U-Report Iraq campaigns, support the production of interactive content and polls, and coordinate poll content with UNICEF programmes, the U-Report global community and partners.
- Support the coordination and management of U-Report activities, which will include orientation sessions with potential stakeholders and with partners including government counterparts, CSO partners and other UN agencies.
- Support the coordination and facilitation of the core programme partnerships with U-Report partners, both CSO (e.g. VOP, BROB), government (e.g. MoYS, Directorate of Youth, KRG) and private (e.g. Korek Telecom, Zain Iraq and Asiacell).
- Support the management and coordination of partnership activities, developing content, and facilitating partnership activity implementation both virtually and in person.
- Attend meetings with U-Report Global Team and Regional T4D Business Analyst as necessary.
- Support the coordination and facilitation of U-Report activities under the Prospects portfolio between UNICEF & other Prospects portfolio stakeholders and partners.
- Support the implementation of the U-Report Iraq scale plan including facilitating capacity trainings and orientation sessions with partners for U-Reporter engagement and sign up.
- Support the coordination and meetings with the U-Report Working Group, U-Report Steering Committee for the facilitation and implementation of U-Report and programme activities.
- Support the documentation of lessons learnt and good practices on U-Report Iraq.
- Contribute to the implementation of the strategic planning functions to support NYVP, including work plan development and monitoring.
- Create, coordinate and maintain an active network youth volunteer and partners’ database, organizing regular calls and sharing of information.
- Liaise with NYVP stakeholders to identify and mobilize youth volunteers and engagement opportunities with a focus on expanding the reach of digital solutions to the more marginalized and harder to reach young people.
- Any other related tasks as may be required or assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications/Requirements Required degree level: Bachelor degree or equivalent Education - Additional Comments:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area, e.g. Social Sciences, Community Development, International Relations or areas related to Communications and Project Management;
- At least 1-2 years of professional work experience at the national and/or international level in community based organisations, or other relevant programmes; experience with RapidPro or other open source platforms is an asset, as is experience working in the UN or other international development organization;
Required experience: 24 Months Experience remark:
- Capacity to liaise and work collaboratively with CSO partners and government counterparts, service providers, telecoms, community and young people;
- Experience in conducting capacity building and orientation sessions with groups of people;
- Strong communication skills in English and Arabic; ability to also write and understand Kurdish is an asset;
- Analytical, negotiating, communication and advocacy skills, excellent writing skills.
- Good knowledge of adolescent and youth engagement, human rights and gender.
- Excellent oral and written skills; excellent drafting, formulation, reporting skills;
- Accuracy and professionalism in document production and editing;
- Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development;
- Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel;
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
- Sound security awareness;
- Have affinity with or interest in working with young people, volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System

- Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; familiarity with database management; and office technology equipment;
- Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines;
