Job Description
An exciting opportunity is available for Static inspection engineer , based in Jubail and will reports directly to Static superintendent
Job purpose
The Inspection Engineer is responsible for the Mechanical and Materials Engineering component of the Static Equipment Strategies. Also for providing assistance with risk based decision making as part of the Unit Business Team. The Unit Lead Inspection Engineer is responsible for submitting static equipment items into the Annual Maintenance Plan and Turnaround worklist processes
Role Responsibilities
- Perform inspections by visual observation, conventional or advanced NDT.
- Become proficient in the use of other inspection methods, which may be used by the Inspection department
- Inspect repair work on equipment performed by Contractors in the Refinery and outside at shops and initiate action to correct deficient work. Monitor and approve welding activities, i.e. welding specifications and weldlificaers quation, certificates and performance tests.
- Planning and execution of all inspection activities for Turnarounds and S/Ds.
- Familiar with the risk based inspection methodology
- Conduct inspection of static equipment and piping in his area to facilitate the smooth functioning of the plant.
- Prepare and execute routine inspection activity plan; external visual inspection plan for stationary equipment, piping and steel structure; and, issue inspection recommendations for the same.

- Carry out internal inspection of static equipment as per agreed plan and Upload Inspection Reports, recommendations and thickness readings.
- Prepare a list of Inspection Recommendations and maintain status.
- Witness Inspection and testing.
- Maintain accurate record keeping and an inspection tool inventory of calibrated inspection tools.
- Prepare and review master due list for internal inspection of static equipment (based on Inspection history and RBI recommendations).
- Ensure the inspection plan is implemented and completed in an optimum manner.
- Lead technical study/ investigation for static equipment have repeated failure and effect the integrity of equipment.
- Monitor and evaluate critical static equipment in his area to increase equipment reliability and performance.
- Evaluate modification (MOC) related to static equipment and support technically
Qualification And Requirements
- Minimum Degree BSC in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Oil and Gas or Petrochemical industries.
- International certification ( API, CSWIP , NACE & AWS)
- Familiar with the RBI, TML /CML methodology (lead one of them before).
- Familiar with Meridium software and IM/TM module
- It is preferred that a candidate have a basic understanding of Petrochemical processes and technologies; familiarity with: TEMA, ASME, API, ASTM and AISI codes; understanding of the basic principles of corrosion, metallurgy and materials of construction, welding procedures, refractory selection and application procedures
