About The Role

Careem is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our Accounting team as a Senior Accountant for a period of 5 months. This role is responsible for owning end-to-end accounting processes, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

What You'll Do

  • Posting Journals on Oracle ERP.
  • Reconcile the banks at the designated frequency.
  • Read and analyze bank statements and maintain a healthy relationship with the banks for any new business requirements.
  • Visit the bank for any additional banking or business requirements.
  • Own the end-to-end process of banking payments and their recording in ORACLE under relevant GLs.
  • Maintain general ledger and prepare month-end close procedures.
  • Handling the daily/weekly captain payments and dealing with disputes coming from captain support sites and customer care.
  • Raise corporate invoices and send them to customers monthly.
  • Manage the accruals and payments for the month end close.
  • Issue & validate credit notes and post to Sales Ledger and customers’ accounts.
  • Allocate bank transfers, card payments, and Cheque Payments to customers’ accounts against due invoices.
  • Identify the errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and accounting records.
  • Work on annual audit and financial statements.
  • Liaise with the sales and operations teams to resolve any issues.
  • Ensure compliance with Careem’s internal policies.
  • Participate in the month-end closing process to ensure costs are accurately booked, making corrections and re-classes for proper cost allocations.
  • Assists in year-end closing and at the time of conducting audits to meet the external auditor's requirements.

What You'll Need

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, ACCA, CPA will be a plus.
  • 4-5 years of accounting/finance experience.
  • Good working knowledge on accounting software systems preferably ERP.
  • Excellent familiarity with Microsoft Office products especially Excel.
  • Background in fast-paced, entrepreneurial, start-up/technology environments is a plus.
  • A solid stake holders management skills.
  • Keen to learn and grow with company’s ambition and fast paced business operations.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
