Head of Environmental Surveying & Monitoring

Role Purpose
Working for a highly significant master plan developer in Saudi Arabia we are seeking suitably qualified applications for the role of Head of Environmental Surveying & Monitoring.
The role will involve the coordination of environmental baseline surveys and monitoring programs as well as the management of all the many forms of environmental data acquisition required to support the company’s ambitious development programs whilst meeting tight time-frames.
The position is also responsible for safeguarding environmental excellence in delivering survey and monitoring programs, ensuring they are delivered on budget and schedule.
The Head of Environmental Surveying & Monitoring will be responsible for the procurement, management and auditing of external contractors or consultants
Furthermore he/she will be tasked with the identification and promotion of innovative techniques for sampling, survey and monitoring.
Experience & Qualifications
- Possess a high-level understanding of a broad range of environmental survey and monitoring methods
- Well-developed contract management experience.
- Excellent understanding of survey effort and scientific rigour conducive to supporting ESIA process.
- Experience in comparative analyses across monitoring and surveillance methods.
- Ability to support data acquisition and capable of delivering robust data QA/QC, secure and manageable storage and access.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Marine Biology, Environmental Biology, Landscape Ecology etc.
- Preferably, a Ph.D.
- Minimum of 15 year-experience across terrestrial or marine environmental survey and field work supervision
- Strong supervision, people management and enthusiastic solution-oriented outlook
- Proven record of successfully managing environmental survey and monitoring programs
- Strong technical skills across sampling and laboratory analytical methods including writing and critical review
- Innovative and forward looking to integrate emerging and blue-skies technologies into SD sampling programs
- Must be field fit and capable of spending short periods in-field (terrestrial and/or marine).
- Advanced qualifications in terrestrial or marine environmental sciences.
